Parimatch and Team Spirit Have Stopped Partnership Due to Russia’s Military Aggression in Ukraine

28.03.22

The termination of the partnership with Team Spirit has become the next step after the withdrawal of Parimatch from Russia.

Since 2019, Team Spirit developed, faced new challenges and took part in tournaments with the support of Parimatch. Other than the years of partnership, the main triumph of  Team Spirit was 1st place at The International 2021 with a prize of over $18,000,000.

In early 2022, Parimatch and Team Spirit have extended their cooperation at least until 2024. Team Spirit displayed the Parimatch logo on the front and sleeves of the organisation's Dota 2 and CS: GO uniforms. Also, former panthers created media content, giveaways, gifts and merch line for esports fans. Over the 2021 year, users have placed over 4 million bets on Team Spirit using Parimatch's platform.

We have no mutual claims because all agreement terms were fulfilled throughout the partnership. But, given the difficulties of operating during the war, we consider this solution the only one possible.

Stepan Shulga, Head of Esports at Parimatch Tech

On March 24, 2022, Team Spirit announced the relocation of the office to Belgrade. Due to the war in Ukraine, the club abandoned plans to expand infrastructure in Russia and began moving teams and employees to Serbia.

Parimatch Tech favours esports as one of the promising development vectors for betting companies. Thus, considering the wishes of esports fans, the company developed the product, mobile apps and held promotions and gifts for users.

Before the war in Ukraine, the Parimatch brand built partnerships with well-known esports organisations and players, supported amateur tournaments, organised its own professional leagues and created content for the esports community on social media.

Now the esports development plans paused, and the company focused resources on supporting Ukraine. Recently, Parimatch Tech has announced that the financial support toward Ukraine is doubled from UAH 30 million to 60 million. Most of the budget was allocated toward purchasing equipment for the Ukrainian defenders, medicines and food, as well as organising evacuations from the hot spots across the country.
